Kutty's diary entry on Angamaly Diaries

Yesterday I cooked chicken curry. A special one. Special because I cooked it in wine and then added some whiskey, then some vodka. I spiced it up with lots of black pepper, a little cardamom (I don’t like it at all), mint leaves and what not. I cooked the curry in low flame, the kind of flame that diffuses the flavours of the ingredients. After 40 minutes of fine craft, the dish was ready, but when I dipped my roti into it, the chicken was missing. WTF, I had forgotten to add the chicken, of all things.

This is essentially what has happened to Angamaly Diaries. Lijo Jose Pellissery was so busy with the camera movements, the local lingo, the editing techniques, the 86 fresh faces, he forgot to put a good story and script in the mix.

Antony Varghese, who plays the hero, reminds us of Nivin Pauly. His three love affairs in the film remind us of Premam. The shouting in the film reminds us of Nana Patekar, but the effect is 10 times more as there are 10 people screaming together.

Angamaly Diaries is what happens when you forget to put pork in pork fry.
